Kolkata police arrest three in park street shootout, suspect names revealed
Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds hit Kolkata and several nearby districts on Wednesday, causing significant disruption. The rainfall began around 1.30 pm, with winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. Key areas in Kolkata, including Chittaranjan Avenue, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Strand Road, and Netaji Subhash Street, experienced severe flooding. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation reported the highest rainfall of 114 mm in Ballygunge.
The heavy rains also affected North 24 Parganas, Medinipur, Howrah, Hooghly, Jhargram, Bankura, and Nadia districts. Roads such as Central Avenue, Theater Road, Park Street, and Alipore in Kolkata were submerged, causing traffic disruptions and waterlogging. The local authorities are working to manage the situation and restore normalcy as soon as possible.
